He has been involved with dry stone in more than forty countries, and was co-founder of the Dry Stone Conservancy in the USA, where he worked extensively with the National Parks. He has many awards, including Britain’s Small Business of the Year and the Rolex Award for Enterprise, appeared numerous times on international television and radio, including the BBC’s World Service, and has written more than seventy journal articles and papers. He has been involved in research on the technical properties of dry stone for many years, including a range of experiments on dry stone for the Building Research Establishment between 2007 and 2010.
